Inline Group worked as a survey contractor during the construction of a Secondary Extraction Facility on the Suncor Fort Hills project. Secondary extraction facilities further filter froth created from primary extraction to separate bitumen from the water and clay.
Throughout the project, Inline Group had the responsibility of establishing and verifying the horizontal and vertical locations of buildings, vessels, equipment, and system tie-points. 3D laser scanning also played a large role in this project as it allowed our crews to minimize the need for aerial platforms by allowing easier access to difficult to reach structural elements such as flanges and piping. Upon the completion of the installation of structures and equipment, a final as built plan was created to verify accuracy for the client.

During the project, Inline had to adjust to a demanding and varying construction schedule. Our project management team made weekly visits to the site ensuring our safety and ISO standards were being maintained. The project lasted over 24 months, with a peak manpower of 18 people onsite daily, including night-shift. Inline successfully completed the project with zero safety or quality incidents.
